In his first year as a student assistant coach, Peralta helped coach the men’s tennis team to an 18-5 overall record, as the team won its first A-Sun title by posting a perfect 10-0 record. While the men notched five All-A-Sun performers, Peralta was instrumental in leading the Spartans to a national ranking that reached as high as No. 54.

Peralta joined Upstate’s coaching staff for the 2009 season as a volunteer assistant. He was an active part of the Spartans’ success. Primarily working with the men’s team, he helped the group post a 22-3 overall record and finish second in the A-Sun. Six member of the team earned All-A-Sun honors, a school and conference record.

At his peak as a player, Peralta held an ATP ranking of 212 in December of 2003. He stayed on the ATP Tour for five years and won both a Challenger event and many Futures Tournaments. In 2003, he played in the French Open qualifiers and played in the 2007 World Cup with Fernando Gonzales on a Chilean team that went on to beat the United States at the event.

As a junior, Peralta was ranked in the top 30 in the world in the under-18 age bracket and held the top ranking in Chile in both the under-16 and under-18 age groups.

Still active in competitive tennis, Peralta won both the Tennessee Valley Open Championship and the William H. Metzger Open Championship during the summer of 2009. Peralta also won the Country Club of Spartanburg Pro Invitational in the summer of 2010 and he has spent part of the last two summers also playing in pro tournaments in Europe.
