Women’s Tennis to Start Spring Season on Saturday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis squad will kick-off the 2011 spring slate on Saturday evening at Clemson at 5:00 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
Before facing Upstate (0-0), No. 11 Clemson will face Troy (Friday - 2:00 p.m.) and Memphis (Saturday - 8:00 a.m.). Upstate's trip down I-85 to Clemson will mark the first ever match against an ACC foe for the Spartans.
Upstate is 0-1 against nationally ranked foes since making the move to Division I at the beginning of the 2007-08 season.

• Upstate was tabbed sixth in the Atlantic Sun Conference preseason coaches' poll released on Thurs., Jan. 20, 2011.
• The Spartans finished 12-5 overall a season ago and were 6-4 in the A-Sun (T-4th).
• Sunday's match at Clemson marks head coach Oliver Trittenwein's Spartan debut and first ever at the helm of a women's program. He was the head men's coach at Texas- San Antonio for 12 years and owned a record of 133-134.
