Two 3-pointers from freshman Kendra Wallace (Hurricane, W.Va./Nitro) in a span of 1:06 keyed 10 straight points by the USC Upstate women's basketball team in the second half, helping the team secure a 87-70 win over Charleston Southern on Thursday night at the Hodge Center. The win improves the Spartans to 3-0 for the first time since the then-Lady Rifles won their first eight to start the 1994-95 season. MORE [+]

USC Upstate head men's basketball coach Eddie Payne announces the signing of Excelsior, Minn., native Caleb Palkert to a national letter of intent to begin play for the Spartans in 2009-10. MORE [+]

After 29 regular season matches, the USC Upstate volleyball team will get a small taste of the postseason this weekend when it hosts the six-team Mr. Gatti's Provisional Invitational. The two-day tournament will feature 12 matches with round robin play on Friday before a six-team tournament is set for Saturday. Heading into the final weekend of the season, the Spartans need just two wins to reach 300 in the 33-season history of the program at the Hodge Center.

It was a good night for the USC Upstate women's basketball team. Not only did the 93-52 win over NAIA school Montreat improve the Spartans to 2-0 for the first time since the 2003-04 season, the team blew past several of their former DI-game records during their season opener in front of 473 fans at the Hodge Center on Monday night.
