SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate women's soccer team returns home for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference games this weekend, welcoming Lipscomb University to town Friday evening, while league newcomer Northern Kentucky comes to County University Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans are 2-3 all-time against the Lipscomb Bison, while they take on the Norse of NKU for the first time in program history. The weekend doubleheader will wrap up the home portion of the 2012 schedule for the Spartans.

Quick Hits

Bison Barrier: Lipscomb goalkeeper Erin Zerio owns 324 career saves - good for 10th in the A-Sun career record books. Zerio could pass Campbell's Erin Switalski (329) and Stetson's Sylvia Vigil (334) this weekend as she stands between the posts against the Spartans and ETSU.

Home Sweet...Away: Northern Kentucky is one of two teams in the league to have a losing record at home and winning mark on the road. The Norse are winless on their home pitch at 4-6, while posting a 4-3 record on the road. The team's only conference win came away from home as well, knocking off Stetson in Deland, Fla. with the lone goal coming in the seventh minute.

Save Machine: USC Upstate goalkeeper Sarah Plantz continues to rank in the nation's top 10 in saves, rounding out the list with 90 total saves, a statistic that also leads the Atlantic Sun Conference.  The junior allowed just two goals in the run of play to ETSU last Saturday and blanked the Buccaneers in the second half.

Half of the Time: With last weekend's second-half shutout of ETSU, the Spartans have now recorded five first-half shutouts and three second-half shutouts. The blanking of the Buccaneers in the second half is the first time all season the Spartans shutout a team in the second half after allowing a goal in the first half. In A-Sun games, Upstate has blanked first-place FGCU for a half, while also keeping sixth-place ETSU off the board for 45 consecutive minutes.
