SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate women's soccer player Alyssa Roegner (Shelby Township, Mich./Eisenhower HS) has been named to Top Drawer Soccer's Top-20 Players to Watch list in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The list was updated on Friday, Nov. 5, with the midfielder coming in at number 11 on the A-Sun Top-20 list.  Roegner helped the Spartans to a 3-13-2 overall record and a 1-7-2 mark in conference play.  Earlier in the season, sophomore Ashlee Barrow (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay HS) was ranked 16th on the Top-20 list for the A-Sun.

"This is a well deserved honor for Alyssa," said head coach Renee Lopez.  "She always gave it her all on both the pitch and in the classroom.  I am proud that her work ethic and determination were recognized."

The Spartans five conference points are the most since Upstate began Division I play in 2007.  Upstate defeated Lipscomb 1-0 on Sept. 26 and picked up double-overtime draws with A-Sun Champion Florida Gulf Coast (10/10) and A-Sun Tournament participant Stetson (10/8).

Upstate picked up non-conference wins against Morehead State (W, 1-0, Sept. 10) at the 2010 Border Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C.  Upstate also picked up a road win with a 2-0 victory at Alabama State on Sept. 19.

Roegner was honored on senior day on Sunday, Oct. 24, with fellow seniors Oleva DuRant (Chapin, S.C./Chapin HS), Catherine Nolff (Columbia, S.C./Irmo HS) and Leigh Ward (Summerville, S.C./Fort Dorchester HS).

Over the course of her four-year career, Roegner made 72 appearances and tallied five goals and three assists.  As a freshman, she scored the game-winning goal against Campbell on Oct. 11, 2007 as Upstate recorded its first-ever victory in the A-Sun.

Roegner is scheduled to graduate in May 2011 with a degree in Nursing.  She owns a 3.93 GPA and is a three-time selection to the A-Sun All-Academic team.
