Spartanburg, S.C. – Brittany Lowe has been a leader on the USC Upstate women's golf team this season and after posting a solid finish at the Rutgers Invitational, has been named the A-Sun Golfer of the Week.
Lowe, a Spartanburg native and graduate of Dorman High School, shot rounds of 79 and 80 at the Rutgers Invitational last weekend. She finished 31st in a field of 119 players and helped lead the Spartans to an 11th-place finish in the 21-team event.
"I am excited that Brittany had the opportunity to win the honor," said Upstate head coach Todd Lawton. "She has worked hard and wants the best for her game and the team. This is a wonderful honor for her and the team."
Upstate has played three tournaments so far this fall, and Lowe has finished as the top Spartan in two of the events. She claimed her first career Top 10 finish by tying for eighth at the Terrier Intercollegiate to begin the season. She was the third-best Upstate player in the Great Smokies Intercollegiate.
Lowe is off to a solid start this season. She currently leads the team with a 77.8 stroke average, lowering her average by 4.1 strokes per round over her career average of 81.9 entering the season. Her effort, and that of her teammates, has helped lower the team per round average to a program-best 317.5 this season. Lowe owns a 174-98 head-to-head record this year for a winning percentage of .640.
Lowe and the Spartans will play their fourth tournament of the fall Monday and Tuesday at the Wendy's Invitational in Charleston.
