SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team will close out the 2012 home slate as they host Atlantic Sun foes Kennesaw State and Mercer this weekend.

Prior to Saturday's match vs. Mercer, the Spartans will honor senior Ramiro Blanco

Spartan Volleys…

Matthias Kidler owns a 12-3 mark in doubles play after winning eight of his last nine matches (all with Ramiro Blanco).

• The Spartans split a pair of home matches Mar. 23-24 as they downed FGCU (6-1), before falling to then-No. 71 Stetson, 4-3.

• Upstate picked up a 5-2 victory over No. 61 Nicholls State (Mar. 6).

• Upstate claimed a thrilling 4-3 victory over former A-Sun foe Campbell (Feb. 24).

• Ramiro Blanco claimed a pair of singles victories in Birmingham, Ala.  At singles No. 1, Blanco defeated David Zimmerman (UAB), 3-6, 7-6 (1), 10-4 and Carson Kadi (Samford), 7-5, 6-2.

• Matthias Kidler, Yvon Haessig and Tyler Grove dropped three-set matches at Samford (Feb. 5).

• Ramiro Blanco was named the A-Sun Men's Tennis Player of the Week (Feb. 1) after helping Upstate claim a 5-2 victory at Gardner-Webb in the Spartans' season opener (Jan. 26).  He picked up his 54th career singles victory with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over GWU's Adam Knutsson-Sundblad at singles No. 2.
