Men’s Tennis Hands Belmont its First Conference Loss

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After dropping the doubles point the USC Upstate men's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory at Belmont Friday at the Centennial Sportsplex.

Ramiro Blanco and Matthias Kidler picked up straight-set victories.  Blanco (singles No. 1) downed Henrique Norbiato, 7-5, 6-2, while Kidler (No. 2) defeate Renato Antun, 6-3, 6-3.

Gonzalo Blanco claimed set number one, 6-4, before dropping set two, 4-6.  Blanco picked up a 7-5 victory in the decisive third set to down Rodrigo Amaral at singles No. 3.

Upstate's final singles victory of the day came at singles No. 5.  Yvon Haessig defeated Bruno Silva, 6-1, 6-2, as the Spartans came back to claim the 4-3 victory.

The Spartans will battle the Lipscomb Bison tomorrow afternoon to close out the two-match road swing.
