Blanco Brothers Reign Supreme at Elon Fall Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Brothers Ramiro and Gonzalo Blanco won in straight sets Sunday to claim singles championships at the Elon Fall Invitational.

Ramiro Blanco captured the A-1 Singles crown with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Elon's Stefan Fortman.  During his championship run, Blanco defeated a pair of top-four seeds (David Hopkins (4), Wake Forest; Torsten Wietsoka (1), Duke).

Gonzalo Blanco claimed the A-3 singles title with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ethan Dunbar (Richmond).  Sunday's win marked the second singles championship of the fall for the sophomore.  Blanco claimed a singles title at the Gardner-Webb Fall Invitational (Sept. 24-25).

In B-2 doubles, the Spartan duo of Yvon Haessig and Pierre Vernin fell in the final to Richmond's Paul Nahon and Dylan Trent, 8-6.

The USC Upstate men's tennis team will return to the courts on Thursday at the ITA Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C.
