ATHENS, Ga. – Competing in their fourth consecutive match against a ranked opponent, the USC Upstate men's tennis team fell on the road at No. 11 Georgia, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Spartans managed to win just three games in the three doubles matches.  Gonzalo Blanco and Ramiro Blanco fell to the No. 14 doubles team of Javier Garrapiz and Hernus Pieters, 2-8 while Matias Di Pasquale and Marco Linconir were downed by the No. 23 doubles team of Sadio Doumbia and Ignacio Taboada, 1-8.

In number three doubles, Gianluca Paino and Ignacio Velez were blanked by Drake Bernstein and Wil Spencer.

In #1 singles, Gonzalo Blanco fell by scores of 1-6, 1-6 to No. 47 Sadio Doumbia, while Blanco's older brother, Ramiro, lost 0-6, 2-6 to Ignacio Taboada in singles number two.

The other four Spartans also fell in straight sets on Wednesday.  Matias Di Pasquale lost to No. 119 Hernus Pieters (2-6, 2-6; #3 Singles) and Marco Linconir fell to Drake Bernstein (1-6, 1-6; #4 Singles).  Ignacio Velez and Andres Sanchez each managed to win just one game against their counterpart.

Upstate will continue their busy week with back-to-back matches this weekend as the Spartans travel to Davidson on Saturday and host their first home match of 2011 against Georgia Southern on Sunday.
