Men’s Tennis Set for Busy Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate men's tennis team is set for a busy week of action as they will compete in three matches between Wednesday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
Upstate's first match of the week will be its fourth straight against a ranked opponent as it travels to Athens, Ga., for a match against the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs (3-0) on Wednesday. After the match with the Bulldogs, Upstate will play on back-to-back days as they play at Davidson (0-3) on Saturday.
The Spartans will host the first home match of the season against the UNC Greensboro Spartans (1-0). Sunday's match will also be the first of four straight home matches for Upstate.
• Matias Di Pasquale picked up his first career win on Friday against Clemson. Playing at singles position number four, Di Pasquale downed Cal Hilsman as he rallied to win the final two sets (2-6, 6-4, 7-5).
• The Spartans fell in both matches at the ITA Kick-off hosted by the University of Tennessee over the weekend. Upstate, the two-seed, fell in the opening match to the 53rd ranked Clemson Tigers, 1-6. In the consolation match, San Diego downed Upstate 7-0.
• The Spartans have no sophomores on the tennis squad. The team is comprised of five freshmen, three juniors and two seniors.
