Former Spartan Rory Scovel Appears on Conan
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Former USC Upstate men's soccer player and current comedian, Rory Scovel appeared on last night's episode of Conan on TBS. Due to a double-booking, Scovel preformed a dual stand-up routine with comedian Jon Dore.
Scovel played his final three seasons of college soccer at Upstate after spending his freshman year at Central Florida. He was a defender for Coach Greg Hooks from 2000-02 and helped lead the Spartans to a 46-12-2 combined record. His teams won two Peach Belt Conference Tournament championships (2001 and 2002) and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2002.
Scovel is a stand-up and improv comic living in Los Angeles and has opened theater shows for comics such as Louis C.K., Daniel Tosh and Nick Swardson. He has also appeared in the following festivals for Stand-Up or with his D.C. Improv troupe, Dr. Fantastic: Vancouver Comedy Festival, Seattle Comedy Competition, San Francisco Comedy Competition, DC Comedy Festival, Del Close Improv Marathon, Bumbershoot Comedy, Arts, and Music Festival, Sasquatch Music Festival, Chicago Improv Festival, Philadelphia Improv Festival.
Scovel will perform in the state of Georgia on back-to-back nights as he will perform at 40 Watt in Athens on July 13th and The Buckhead Theater in Atlanta on July 14th.
