Men Second, Women Third In ASun Coaches Poll
MACON, Ga. – Three weeks into the 2010 cross country season, the Atlantic Sun Cross Country Coaches' Poll has been released as the USC Upstate men's cross country squad is still holding tight to second place, women third.
Kennesaw State's men and Jacksonville's women remained at the top of the Atlantic Sun Cross Country Coaches' Polls in the second edition of the rankings.
On the men's side of things, the Owls increased their point total by five points as they picked up ten of the 11 first-place votes, while USC Upstate garnered the other top vote, which put the Spartans in second place. On the women's side, Jacksonville pushed its points total to 118 after finishing second at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational and earned nine of the first-place votes. UNF took the other two top votes as they trail the Dolphins by only 11 points in the poll following a fourth-place finish at the UF meet.
Following the Owls and Spartans in the men's top-five are Belmont, only four points behind USC Upstate, ETSU and Lipscomb. The Bruins finished third last weekend at the Vanderbilt Commodore Invitational, while Lipscomb took fifth at the same meet. Following the top-five, the poll is wrapped up by UNF, FGCU, Mercer, Campbell, Jacksonville and Stetson.
For the ladies, the Spartans' team ranks third behind Jacksonville and UNF after taking third place at the Clemson Invitational and are followed by Lipscomb and Belmont to end the top-five. The Lady Bisons only trail USC Upstate by one point for third place. Rounding out the rest of the poll includes Kennesaw State, FGCU, Campbell, Mercer, ETSU and Stetson.
Only Stetson is in action this weekend as both of their squads travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Embry-Riddle Classic on Saturday.
