Sugishita Concludes Career at NCAA Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Kenny Sugishita of the USC Upstate men's track & field team wrapped up the 2013 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Championships for the Spartans Saturday hosted by North Carolina A&T State University, competing in the hammer throw.
In his second trip to the NCAA East Prelims in as many years, Sugishita came in 33rd in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 182-04 (55.59-meters). Last year in the NCAA first round competition, Sugishita recorded a throw of 172-11 (52.72-meters) for 46th-place.
"I'm so proud that Kenny got another opportunity to represent Upstate in the first round," said Upstate Head Coach Natalie Smith. "We are very proud of all this accomplishments over his career here at Upstate and I know that he will continue to be successful in all that he does."
The Spartan hurler closes out a successful career at Upstate, owning three outdoor school records including a program-best heave of 197-11.00 (60.34-meters) in the hammer, which he posted at the Charlotte Invitational April 19.
