Volleyball Preview:  at Radford

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team finishes regular season play on Friday evening as they travel to Radford, Va. for a 6 p.m. match against the Radford Highlanders from the Dedmon Center.

The Spartans (13-17, 8-7 Big South) are back in action after falling 3-1 to UNC Asheville on Tuesday evening. Madison Haake registered her 17th double-double of the season, and 65th of her career, finishing with 41 assists and 16 digs. Lily Dempsey added her fifth double-double of the year on a team-high 18 kills to go with 12 digs. Payton Duncan tied for a match-high with 21 digs. 

Emily Russell leads the team this season both offensively and defensively with 269 kills and 115 blocks. Haake leads in assists with 1,007 and Duncan in digs with 390. Russell sits second in the conference in blocks, Haakethird in assists, Duncan sixth in service aces and ninth in digs, and Dempsey 10th in kills.

Radford is 19-4 overall this season and 11-3 in the Big South. The Highlanders are coming off a 3-0 loss to High Point last Friday.

The 2018 Big South Volleyball Championship is being held next weekend, Nov. 16-18, in Asheville, N.C.
