Volleyball Preview:  at High Point

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team will travel to High Point, N.C. on Friday evening to continue Big South play against the High Point Panthers at 7 p.m. from the Millis Center. 

The Spartans (7-14, 3-4 Big South) are coming off a 3-1 victory against UNC Asheville on Tuesday evening. Madison Haake recorded her 11th double-double of the season, and 59th of her career, after finishing with 41 assists and 19 digs. Emily Russell led USC Upstate offensively with a career-high 15 kills while adding 10.0 total blocks. Gloria Ikenegbu contributed her third consecutive match with double-digit kills after finishing with 11 while hitting a team-best .455.

Russell leads the Spartans this season with 175 kills and 84 total blocks. Payton Duncan has a team-high 259 digs while Haake contributes 681 assists. Russell and Haake are both third in the Big South this season in blocks and assists while Duncan is ninth in digs.

High Point enters the match with an 11-8 overall record and 6-1 conference mark after defeating East Tennessee State 3-2 on Tuesday evening. Molly Livingston leads the Panthers with 184 kills and 55 total blocks while Jenna Smith has a team-high 383 assists. Abby Bottomley adds 366 digs. High Point is under the direction of first-year head coach Ryan Meek.

The Spartans travel to Clinton, S.C. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 to face Presbyterian College at 6 p.m.
