Volleyball Exhibition Preview:  East Tennessee State

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team plays its only exhibition match of the preseason on Saturday morning as the Spartans host the East Tennessee State Buccaneers at 11 a.m. inside the G.B. Hodge Center.

Admission to the match is free of charge.

USC Upstate enters its 23rd season under head coach Jennifer Calloway who currently sits four wins away from becoming the program's all-time leader in victories. The Spartans return eight letterwinners from last year's team highlighted by four starters. The program also welcomes in five newcomers consisting of four freshmen and one junior.

East Tennessee State finished last season with a 19-12 overall record and went 12-4 in the Southern Conference to capture to the conference tournament championship, advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The Buccaneers are under the direction of 16th-year head coach Lindsey Devine.

The Spartans begin their regular season on Friday, August 24 when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face Virginia Tech, Charlotte and Elon as part of the Charlotte Invitational.
