2017 Schedule

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate head volleyball coach Jennifer Calloway has announced today that the Spartans will play a 28-game schedule for the upcoming 2017 season including seven contests inside the G.B. Hodge Center.

"I am excited about the schedule that we have put together for the 2017 season," said Calloway, who will be entering her 22nd season at the helm of the Spartans. "Our non-conference schedule is once again very competitive. It will provide us a great opportunity to develop and prepare our team heading into ASUN Conference play."

For the fourth straight year, Upstate begins its season with four tournaments on the road. The Spartans open the 2017 season Aug. 25-26 with the Hampton Inn and Suites Classic in Charleston, S.C. followed by the AmericInn Runnin' Bulldog Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C. Sept. 1-2. Following its first midweek match at Charlotte on Sept. 6, Upstate hits the road for the Demon Deacon Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. Sept. 8-9. The Spartans close out tournament play Sept. 15-16 at the Rocky Top Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.

The ASUN portion of Upstate's schedule begins on Sept. 23 with a road match at NJIT, followed by its home opener on Sept. 29 against Jacksonville to close out the month. The Spartans remain at home on the first day of October versus North Florida, before beginning a four-match road trip at Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 6), Stetson (Oct. 7), Kennesaw State (Oct. 13) and Lipscomb (Oct. 14).

Upstate closes out non-conference play on Oct. 18 at Presbyterian College.

The Spartans begin a five-match stretch at home on Oct. 21 against NJIT, and also host Lipscomb (Oct. 27), Kennesaw State (Oct. 29), Stetson (Nov. 3) and Florida Gulf Coast (Nov. 5) in their final home match of the season.

Upstate wraps up the regular season Nov. 10-11 at North Florida and Jacksonville.

The 2017 ASUN Volleyball Championship will be held Nov. 16-18 in Nashville, Tenn. and is being hosted by Lipscomb for the third straight year.

Home matches and select road matches will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The Spartans return ten letterwinners, including five starters and one libero, from last year's team that advanced to the semifinals of the ASUN Volleyball Championship for the first time in program history. Upstate also welcomes four newcomers to the 2017 squad.
