CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference has announced the seeding for the 2019 Women's Tennis Tournament; the USC Upstate women's tennis team has been seeded eighth overall by the conference.
USC Upstate is looking for their first postseason win since the 2013 Atlantic Sun Quarterfinals. That season the Spartans defeated Kennesaw State 4-3 in route to a semi-finals berth in the A-Sun Tournament.
The Spartans will met a familiar foe on Tuesday afternoon as they are matched up with Longwood for the second consecutive match. Senior Noelia Acuna won a decisive third set at the No. 1 singles flight to secure the 4-3 victory for the Spartans on senior day the last time these two teams met.
If the Spartans are able to move passed the Lancers in the opening round of the tournament, USC Upstate will then face-off against top-ranked Winthrop in the quarterfinals round on Wednesday morning.
Presbyterian earned the two seed in the tournament, followed by Gardner-Webb, Campbell, Charleston Southern and host Radford. The second first round match will include UNC Asheville and Hampton University.
The 2019 Big South Tennis Championship will take place on the campus of Radford University. The Spartans first round match against Longwood will be at 12:00 p.m. on April 16. Live Stats of the event can be found at upstatespartans.com.
