Women’s Tennis Preview:  USCU Spartan Women’s Challenge

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team ushers in its 2018 fall season this weekend when the Spartans host the USCU Spartan Women's Challenge from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

Competition begins Friday at 1:00 p.m. and will feature, along with USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Limestone and UNC Asheville. The tournament will continue for the Spartans all day Saturday and conclude Sunday afternoon.

USC Upstate has seven players scheduled to compete this weekend in Vale Zarama, Victoria Saldh, Elin Hellberg, Noelia Acuna, Ana Boza, Gabriela Cevallos and Maria Jardim. Zarama, Saldh and Hellberg are playing in the Green Singles bracket while Acuna, Boza, Cevallos and Jardim are playing in the Black Singles bracket. In doubles play, the Spartans are sending out the combinations of Acuna and Jardim, Saldh and Zarama, and Boza and Hellberg.

The USCU Spartan Women's Challenge is one of four tournaments the Spartans are scheduled to compete in during the fall. USC Upstate returns to action Oct. 5-7 at the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga.
