Charlotte Defeats Women’s Tennis

Charlotte, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team lost 4-0 to Charlotte in a non-conference match Friday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

Charlotte improves to 2-2 while Upstate drops to 0-4.

The 49ers clinched the doubles point after claiming wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Filippa Ericson and Eduarda Ferreira were 6-3 winners at No. 1 doubles. Charlotte claimed the match thanks to wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Carol Sigaki and Ferreira won the first set and were tied 3-3 in the second set in their No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches when play was stopped.

Upstate returns to action on Tuesday, making the short trip to Presbyterian College for a 2 p.m. match.
