Spartanburg, S.C. – After securing its first victory of the season, the USC Upstate women's tennis team embarks on a weekend road trip that pits the Spartans against Campbell and UNC Greensboro.
Upstate is coming off a 5-2 victory Feb. 1 over in-state rival Presbyterian to move to 1-5 this season. The Spartans lost the doubles point, but won five consecutive singles points to secure the victory.
Spartan freshman Anna Zoske owns a team-best 3-2 mark in singles play, while Isabel von Stryk is 3-3 overall and has won her last three matches. Ana Baran and von Stryk are 2-2 in doubles action to lead the Spartans.
Campbell enters the weekend with a 1-2 overall record after the Camels defeated Wingate 9-0 Feb. 1. Campbell opened the spring season with losses to Georgetown and VCU. Upstate faces the Camels Saturday at 11 a.m.
UNCG has started its season 0-2 following losses to Wake Forest and North Carolina. The Spartans will play their first home match of the season Saturday against East Carolina before hosting Upstate Sunday at 12 p.m.
