USC Upstate Entertains Jacksonville in Final Home Conference Series, Senior Day is Saturday

Spartanburg, S.C. – After spending the last five games on the road, the USC Upstate softball team returns to Cyrill Stadium this weekend to host its final ASUN home series of the season against the Jacksonville Dolphins.

The three-game series gets started on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. and concludes on Sunday afternoon with a single game slated for 1 p.m. The Spartans will hold their Senior Day festivities between the doubleheader on Saturday and are honoring Tarynn Tirpak, Kendsey Chappelear and Karla Beasley.

USC Upstate is coming off its third straight conference series win of the season taking two out of three on the road last weekend at North Florida. Kayla Hussey led the Spartans offensively with a .444 average while Brittany Case had four RBI. In the circle, Christina Biggerstaff went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA. Beasley set a new season-high home run mark of 13 last weekend and increased her career homer total to 42, putting her four away from tying Stacey Berrong (1996-99) for second in program history.

Biggerstaff was also rewarded for her pitching performance earning ASUN Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday for the second time this season.

Beasley leads the USC Upstate offense this season with a .397 average and 13 home runs while Logan Morris has driven in a team-leading 32 RBI. In the circle, Biggerstaff is 14-8 with a 1.65 ERA.

Jacksonville currently sits at 22-19 overall and 3-3 in the conference following a 3-0 win over Florida A&M on Wednesday. Madison Ragan has a team-best .350 batting average and is tied with Heather Roberts at five home runs. Roberts leads the team with 22 RBI. In the circle, Alyssa Bilodeau is 13-7 with a 2.08 ERA. The Dolphins are under the direction of first-year head coach Erica Ayers.

The Spartans hold a 19-7 lead in the all-time series over Jacksonville.
