Women’s Soccer Preview:  Longwood

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team will host the Longwood Lancers on Saturday afternoon as it continues Big South play at 2 p.m. from County University Soccer Stadium.

USC Upstate (7-5, 3-2 Big South) picked up a 4-2 victory against Winthrop on Wednesday evening.  It was the first-ever win against the Eagles and set a record for most Division I wins in a season. Abbie Ellis recorded her second straight multi-goal game, and third of the season, leading USC Upstate offensively with two goals on six shots. She is the first Spartan since 2003 to score double-digit goals in a season. Montanna Hill netted her third goal of the season and Emma Honis her second. Madison McNally earned the win in goal after grabbing one save. 

Ellis is currently first in the Big South in points and goals with a team-high 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. McNally has tallied 13 saves and a 1.34 GAA.

Longwood (4-5-3, 2-1-2 Big South) is coming off of a 5-1 victory against Hampton on Oct. 3. Emilie Kupsov leads the Lancers in points with nine on four goals and one assist. Twelve different players have scored for Longwood this year. Madison Van Dyke has 47 saves with a 1.61 GAA and .701 save percentage. The Lancers are under the direction of 25th-year head coach Todd Dyer.
