LakePoint, Ga. - USC Upstate forward Emma Honis has been named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team as the league announced its postseason awards on Wednesday afternoon. She is the first Upstate player to earn All-Freshman Team honors since Kate Winegarner in 2015 and is the fifth player in the Division I era to claim a spot on the team.
Honis, an Ocoee, Fla. native, earned a spot on the team after she finished tied for second on the team with three goals. She tallied two goals in a 4-2 victory over Hampton on Sept. 1 and scored her third goal of the year against Bob Jones. Honis attempted 12 shots on the season while playing in 16 matches with 13 starts.
Upstate finished with a 6-10-1 overall record, setting a new Division I era record for wins as well as goals with 27.
Lipscomb's Ellen Lundy was named Player of the Year while Florida Gulf Coast's Ashley Parks and Melissa Weck earned Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
