Women’s Golf Preview:  at Big South Women’s Golf Championship

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team travels to Ninety Six, S.C. this week, April 12-14, to compete in its first-ever Big South Women's Golf Championship hosted by Campbell at the par 72, 6230-yard The Patriot Golf Club.

Admission to this week's Big South Women's Golf Championship is free of charge.

The 54-hole tournament will be played over the course of three days with each day consisting of 18 holes of competition.

USC Upstate is sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Pan Paksanont, Beem Pabsimma, Brooke Hutto, Anna Chanthaphaeng and Kathryn Elliott.

The Spartans are the third seed in this week's Big South Women's Golf Championship based on the latest Golfstat rankings. USC Upstate is currently ranked 152nd nationally.

Campbell receives the No. 1 seed based on its current Golfstat ranking of 25 followed by High Point as the No. 2 seed with a national ranking of 136. Winthrop earns the No. 4 seed with its national ranking of 174. Gardner-Webb, ranked No. 184, will be the No. 5 seed in the championship, with Presbyterian College (186) receiving the No. 6 seed. Charleston Southern receives the No. 7 seed (No. 190), ahead of UNC Asheville (No. 8 - 206) and Radford (No. 9 – 212). Longwood (227) and Hampton (262) round out the field as the No. 10 and 11 seeds, respectively.

The Spartans are coming off a seventh place finish at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, April 7-8, in Morganton, N.C. Paksanont and Pabsimma were the top individual performers for USC Upstate finishing in a tie for 10th place. It was Paksanont's third top-10 finish this season and second for Pabsimma.

The 2019 Big South Women's Golf champion will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
