Women’s Golf Preview:  at Blue Hose Match Play

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team will travel to Ninety Six, S.C. on Oct. 15-16 for the First Annual Blue Hose Match Play hosted by Presbyterian College at the par 72, 6121-yard The Patriot Golf Club.

USC Upstate enters the match play tournament as the No. 1 overall seed based off the most current Golfweek ranking. Host Presbyterian College will be the No. 2 seed followed by No. 3 Gardner-Webb, No. 4 Charleston Southern, No. 5 Radford, No. 6 Longwood, No. 7 UNC Asheville and No. 8 The Citadel.

The eight teams will play head-to-head with the winners advancing into the winner's bracket and losers into a consolation bracket. The event will begin with teams playing two rounds on Monday before a final round on Tuesday. Both days will tee off at 8:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The Spartans are sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Pan Paksanont, Brooke Hutto, Anna Chanthaphaeng, Beem Pabsimma and Kathryn Elliott. Marley DeFreitas and Caroline Heustess will be competing as individuals.

USC Upstate is looking for its second straight tournament win after capturing the team championship of the GWU Shootout on Oct. 7. Paksanont also won individual medalist honors with back-to-back rounds of 72 for a 144. The Spartans carded rounds of 303 and 306 to shoot a combined score of 609.

The Spartans close out their fall schedule Oct. 29-30 remaining in Spartanburg for the Terrier Intercollegiate at The Country Club of Spartanburg.
