USC Upstate Heads West for Red Rocks Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team will make its longest trip of the season this weekend as the Spartans travel west to Sedona, Ariz. for the Red Rocks Invitational from the par 72, 6195-yard Oakcreek Country Club.

The Red Rocks Invitational is a 54-hole tournament that will be played over the course of two days, March 24-25. The first 36 holes are being played on Saturday and conclude on Sunday with the final 18. Tee times for all three rounds are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EST (8:30 a.m. MST).

USC Upstate is one of 18 teams competing at the tournament along with Northern Arizona, Boise State, British Columbia, Brown, College of Charleston, Drake, Grand Canyon, Montana, Nebraska Omaha, North Dakota, Portland State, Seattle, South Dakota, Southern Utah, UT Rio Grande Valley, Weber State and Idaho State.

The Spartans are sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Pan Paksanont, Anna Chanthaphaeng, Sidney Dermody, Brooke Hutto and Payton Culler.

USC Upstate is competing for the second straight weekend after finishing in fifth place at the Low Country Intercollegiate led by a runner-up performance from Paksanont. Paksanont picked up her fourth career top-5 finish and tied her career-best performance of second place.

The Spartans led all teams at the Low Country Intercollegiate in pars and tied for second in par 3 scoring. USC Upstate was also third in par 4 scoring. Paksanont led the tournament field in par 3 scoring, and was fifth in pars and ninth in birdies. Hutto ranked third in par 4 scoring and fifth in pars while Dermody was fourth in par 4 scoring.

The Spartans head to Morganton, N.C. April 1-2 for the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.
