Upstate Set to Compete at Boston College Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team travels to the state of Massachusetts this week to compete in the Boston College Intercollegiate hosted by Boston College at the par 72, 6,137-yard Blue Hill Country Club.

Upstate will be sending out a five-player lineup for the two-day tournament consisting of Pan Paksanont, Anna Chanthaphaeng, Payton Culler, Brooke Hutto and Sidney Dermody.

The Spartans are one of 16 teams competing in the Boston College Intercollegiate along with Boston College, Florida International, Georgetown, Elon, Richmond, St. John's, Ball State, Illinois State, North Dakota State, South Dakota, Fairleigh Dickinson, Wofford, Brown, Wagner and Lipscomb.

The Boston College Intercollegiate is being played on Sunday and Monday with teams slated to tee off Sunday morning beginning at 8:45 a.m. Paksanont is starting her opening round on the 9th hole while Culler, Chanthaphaeng, Dermody and Hutto are beginning at holes 10 and 11.

Upstate has six players returning from last year's squad in Paksanont, Chanthaphaeng, Culler, Dermody, Caroline Heustess and Marley DeFreitas. Paksanont is the reigning ASUN Freshman of the Year and was an All-Freshman Team performer last season along with Chanthaphaeng. The Spartans have one newcomer this year in Hutto.
