Women’s Basketball Preview:  at Nebraska-Omaha, Nebraska

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team heads to the state of Nebraska this weekend for two non-conference games against the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Spartans will face Nebraska-Omaha on Friday evening at 8 p.m. EST and then take the 53-mile journey down to Nebraska on Sunday afternoon for a 12 p.m. tipoff.

USC Upstate opened its season on Tuesday evening with a 96-45 loss on the road at Virginia Tech. Brianna Lewis scored a team-high 17 points in her first game as a Spartan. Michaela Gibbons, Bailey Wensler and Kathryn Kirkwood all had six points. Riley Popplewell contributed five rebounds and two blocks while DeNisha Swain registered four steals, three rebounds and two assists. 

Nebraska-Omaha finished last season with a 12-16 overall record while Nebraska sits at 0-1 this season after beginning the year on Nov. 3 with an 83-77 loss against Drake.
