Women’s Basketball Preview:  at Virginia Tech

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team tips off its 2018-19 season on Tuesday evening when it travels to Blacksburg, Va. for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Virginia Tech Hokies at Cassell Coliseum.

Last season, USC Upstate finished with an 11-19 overall record as Anda Kuzmina was named to the All-Freshman Team and Riley Popplewell garnered Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades. The Spartans return a total of eight letterwinners from last season including three starters in Kuzmina, Popplewell and Rylie Parkhurst.

USC Upstate also welcomes a total of five newcomers consisting of three freshmen and two juniors.

Virginia Tech finished last season with a 23-14 overall record and 6-10 mark in the ACC. The Hokies are under the direction of third-year head coach Kenny Brooks.

The Spartans are facing Virginia Tech for the fourth time in program history with the Hokies holding a 3-0 lead in the all-time series.
