Men’s Soccer Preview:  Presbyterian College

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team returns to Big South competition on Saturday evening as it hosts the Presbyterian College Blue Hose at 7 p.m. from County University Soccer Stadium.

USC Upstate (2-8, 2-3 Big South) wrapped up a three-game non-conference road trip on Tuesday evening with a 3-2 defeat at Mercer. Martin Skaiaa collected his first collegiate goal for the Spartans. Cam Philpot attempted a team-high five shots while Francis Eto added three attempts on goal. CJ Cluck grabbed a season-high six saves. 

Philpot leads USC Upstate this season with eight points on four goals. Eight different players have scored for the Spartans. Eto and Jaedon Williamson have each dished out two assists. Andrea Bonavia leads the team with 45 saves.

Presbyterian College enters the weekend with a 3-9 overall record and is tied for second in the conference standings at 3-1. The Blue Hose defeated UNC Asheville 5-1 on Wednesday evening. Marcos Kitromildes leads the team with eight points on four goals. Jan Hoofelner adds a team-best 27 saves with a 1.37 GAA. Presbyterian College is under the direction of third-year head coach Jonathan Potter.

The Spartans travel to Farmville, Va. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 to take on Longwood at 6 p.m.
