Men's Soccer Exhibition Preview:  at College of Charleston

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team travels to the College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon as the Spartans begin their 2018 season with an exhibition contest against the Cougars at 4 p.m. from Soccer Stadium at Patriots Point. Admission to the contest is free.

USC Upstate enters its second season under head coach Scott Halkett and have been projected to finish ninth in the Big South Preseason Poll. The Spartans return a total of 12 letterwinners from last year's team that is highlighted by four starters in CJ Cluck, Joel Bunting, Cam Philpot and Michelangelo Dovidio. Overall, USC Upstate brings in 16 newcomers to complete the 28-man roster.

Philpot led the Spartans last season offensively compiling a team-high 11 points on four goals and three assists. In goal, Cluck made nine starts and collected a team-best 30 saves.

College of Charleston finished last season with an 8-6-4 overall record and 3-1-4 mark against CAA opponents.

USC Upstate returns home to County University Soccer Stadium on Friday, August 17 when it hosts Louisburg College at 3 p.m. in its final exhibition game.
