Upstate Heads to N.C. State on Tuesday for Non-Conference Contest

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team continues its three-game road trip on Tuesday evening when it travels to Raleigh, N.C. to take on the N.C. State Wolfpack at 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Field.

The Spartans enter the midweek matchup with a 2-8-1 overall record while N.C. State currently sits at 6-4-1 on the season.

Upstate is coming off a 3-1 defeat in ASUN play at Jacksonville last Saturday. Cam Philpot scored his team-leading third goal of the season and finished with a team-high six shots including two on goal. JR Cozine registered his first assist of the season while goalie CJ Cluck had four saves.

Philpot leads the Spartans offensively this season with seven points on three goals and one assist while Calon Minors has dished out a team-leading two assists. Cluck has contributed 10 saves this year.

Upstate ranks second in the ASUN this season with 70 corner kicks.

N.C. State has picked up wins this season over Florida Atlantic, Clemson, Longwood, UNC Asheville, Belmont and Syracuse. The Wolfpack are led offensively by Tanner Roberts with 10 points on four goals and two assists while Julius Duchscherer is tied for the team-lead with four goals. David Loera, Ade Taiwo and Simon Blotko have each dished out three assists. Goalie Leon Krapf has grabbed 27 saves and compiled a 1.24 goals against average. N.C. State is under the direction of first-year head coach George Kiefer.

The Spartans and Wolfpack are meeting for the second time in program history with N.C. State holding a 1-0 lead in the all-time series. The teams are meeting for the first time since the 1982 season.
