Men’s Golf Preview:  at Furman Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team returns to the course this weekend making the trip to Greenville, S.C. to compete in the Furman Intercollegiate hosted by Furman at the par 71, 6994-yard Furman University Golf Course.

The Furman Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played over the course of three days. Round one will tee off on Friday morning at 8:20 a.m. with second round play scheduled for 8:20 a.m. on Saturday. Final round action is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning.

USC Upstate is one of 20 teams competing in the three-day tournament along with Furman, Akron, Charleston Southern, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Dartmouth, Davidson, Francis Marion, Georgia State, High Point, Marshall, Minnesota, Presbyterian, Samford, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech, Wichita State, Winthrop, Wofford and Yale.

The Spartans are sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Jordan Warnock, Reid Bedell, Matt Carter, Hunter Fry and Sun Paripunna.

USC Upstate is coming off an 11th place performance last week at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Ore. Bedell was the top individual performer for the Spartans finishing in a tie for 19th place and tied for the tournament-lead with 40 pars.

USC Upstate concluded the tournament with a 3.42 stroke average in par 3 scoring, 4.27 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 4-under par, 4.93 stroke average in par 5 scoring. The Spartans also registered 157 pars, 34 birdies and one eagle.

The Spartans stay in Spartanburg for the Wofford Invitational held April 1-2 at The Country Club of Spartanburg.
