Men’s Golf Preview:  at East Bay Deli Classic

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team is set to compete in its final event of the fall Nov. 4-6 traveling to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the East Bay Deli Classic hosted by Charleston Southern from the par 72, 6911-yard Turtle Point Golf Course.

The 54-hole tournament begins on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. tee time. Monday's second round is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m.

USC Upstate is one of 21 teams competing in the East Bay Deli Classic including Charleston Southern, Appalachian State, Augusta, College of Charleston, Florida Atlantic, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, Hampton, High Point, Jacksonville State, Loyola Maryland, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Presbyterian College, Radford, Tennessee Tech, Troy, Western Carolina, William & Mary and Winthrop.

The Spartans are sending a five-player lineup consisting of Matt Carter, Jordan Warnock, Reid Bedell, Sun Paripunna and Hunter Fry. Sam Merrell is competing as an individual.

USC Upstate looks to win its second tournament in a row after capturing the Camden Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 21. The tournament championship was the first for the Spartans since capturing the Bash at the Beach on March 11, 2014. Warnock was the top individual performer for USC Upstate with his second career top-5 performance, shooting a final round 71 to finish in second place. Carter also finished in a tie for third place.
