Warnock Finishes in Top-15 at 87th SCGA Amateur Championship

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate rising-junior Jordan Warnock led five Spartan golfers, both current and former, this past weekend at the 87th SCGA Amateur Championship at the Dataw Island Club – Cotton Dike Course in Dataw Island, S.C.

Warnock was joined in the tournament field by current USC Upstate golfer Matt Carter, and former Spartans Jamie Lightsey (2005-09), Brian Horton (2009-13) and Tyler Tucker (2005-09). He compiled rounds of 73-71-71-72 to finish in a tie for 14th place at 3-over 287.

Lightsey finished two strokes back of Warnock in a tie for 20th at 5-over par 289 highlighted by a second round 69 and opening round 71. Horton placed in a tie for 25th position with a 6-over 290 and carded one of the lowest scores of the tournament with his second round 67. Tucker landed in the 63rd spot and had back-to-back scores of 73 in rounds one and two.

Carter rounded out the leaderboard for USC Upstate and collected a low score of 72 in the second round.
