Warnock Leads Four Spartan Golfers at Spartanburg County Amateur

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate rising-junior men's golfer Jordan Warnock led four Spartans this past weekend at the Spartanburg County Amateur finishing in fourth place at 4-under par 212.

Warnock was joined in the tournament field by rising-senior Matt Carter, rising-junior Sam Merrell and incoming freshman Parker Lewis. The three-day tournament was played at Three Pines Country Club in nearby Woodruff, S.C.

Warnock posted opening rounds of 68 and 69 to sit as the 36-hole leader at 7-under par. He carded a final round 75 to finish alone in fourth place with a 4-under 212. Warnock's first round 68 was tied for second-lowest among the tournament field while his 69 in round two tied for fifth.

Carter and Lewis finished sixth and seventh, respectively, at the tournament as Carter had a 1-under 215 and Lewis an even-par 216. Carter concluded the tournament 4-under par over his final two rounds highlighted by a third round 69, tying Warnock for the fifth-lowest round of the tournament. Lewis recorded his lowest round of the event on the final day with a 2-under 70.

Merrell placed 13th after shooting a combined score of 5-over 221. He had a low score of 70 in the second round.
