ASUN Beam Video Series: Matt Carter, Men’s Golf

LakePoint, Ga. – In the first ASUN Beam Video Series, the conference features student-athletes across the ASUN that have made an Impact in the classroom, in competition and in the community. Throughout the spring, the ASUN will feature two student-athletes from each institution that epitomize the conference's beam of Impact.

A multi-sport athlete at Easley High School, Matt Carter came to the Spartanburg campus because of its family-like atmosphere where he has flourished as he served as the team captain during the 2017-18 season. Maintaining a 3.39 GPA, Carter has appeared on the ASUN Academic Honor Roll.

This season, Carter ranked second on the team with a 74.30 stroke average as he recorded three top-10 finishes for the Spartans in 10 events. His low round of 68 at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate ranked second on the squad. At the ASUN Championship, Carter led USC Upstate with a tie for 14th as he carded rounds of 72 and 76 in a rain-shortened event. Over his three-year career, Carter has played in 27 events and has lowered his stroke average each year in Spartanburg. In the community, Matt has helped the USC Upstate golf program several times around Spartanburg by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in building homes.
