Upstate Continues Fall Season this Weekend at Camden Collegiate Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. -- The USC Upstate men's golf team will make a return trip to Camden, S.C. this weekend, Oct. 21-22, as the Spartans are set to compete in the 17-team Camden Collegiate Invitational hosted by South Carolina at the par 70, 6,455-yard Camden Country Club.

Upstate is participating in its third tournament of the fall season and are returning to the course for the first time since Oct. 2-3 at the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate.

The Spartans finished in ninth place at the two-day tournament led by Reid Bedell who collected the first top-15 finish of his career. Upstate had the third-best scoring mark in par 5 scoring finishing at 10-under par with a 4.87 stroke average. Bedell was one of the top players in par 5 scoring at 7-under with a 4.53 stroke average to rank tied for third among the tournament field. Bedell also led the team with 17 birdies.

The Spartans are one of 17 teams competing in the two-day tournament along with South Carolina, USC Aiken, Wofford, Charleston Southern, Furman, James Madison, Francis Marion, Dartmouth, Presbyterian College, High Point, Columbia, Gardner-Webb, George Washington, Elon, Lamar and Radford.

Upstate is sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Bedell, Matt Carter, Jordan Warnock, Hunter Fry and Sun Paripunna.

The Camden Collegiate Invitational is a 54-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Saturday will feature 36 holes of competition with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Teams will play 18 holes on Sunday with an 8:00 a.m. start.
