Men’s Basketball Preview:  at Presbyterian College

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's basketball team plays its first-ever Big South Conference game on Saturday afternoon as the Spartans travel to Clinton, S.C. for a 4 p.m. tipoff against the Presbyterian College Blue Hose at the Templeton Center.

USC Upstate (5-10, 0-0 Big South) closed out non-conference play on Wednesday falling 79-63 at Georgia Tech. For the second straight game, Malik Moore led the Spartans offensively scoring 18 points while adding five rebounds. Deion Holmes contributed 12 points and tied for the team-lead with Nevin Zink in rebounding with six. USC Upstate finished the game holding a 17-11 advantage in points off turnovers and 10-5 in second chance points.

Moore leads the Spartans this season with 17.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He ranks fourth in the Big South in rebounding and fifth in scoring. Holmes adds 13.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Presbyterian College (8-7, 0-0 Big South) has three players averaging in double-figures led by Adam Flagler with 15.6 points per game. Francois Lewis contributes 14.6 points per game and JC Younger 10.1. Cory Hightower averages a team-leading 6.5 rebounds per game. The Blue Hose are under the direction of second-year head coach Dustin Kerns.

USC Upstate and Presbyterian College are meeting for the 27th time in program history with the all-time series tied at 13-13.
