Men’s Basketball Preview:  at Eastern Kentucky

Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate men's basketball team stays on the road on Wednesday evening traveling to Richmond, Ky. to face the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at 7:30 p.m. from McBrayer Arena.

USC Upstate (2-6) picked up its second win of the season last Saturday following a 71-66 victory at Western Michigan. Deion Holmes scored a season-high 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting and 4-of-5 behind the 3-point line to lead the Spartans offensively. Malik Moore recorded his first double-double of the season after finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Martin also recorded a career-high 16 points off the bench.

Holmes leads USC Upstate in scoring this season with 15.2 points per game. Moore contributes 13.5 points and a team-leading 6.4 rebounds per game. Jure Span has dished out a team-best 4.3 assists per game.

Eastern Kentucky is currently 4-4 on the season after defeating High Point 70-69 on Dec 1. Nick Mayo leads EKU with 25.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The Colonels are under the direction of first-year head coach A.W. Hamilton.

The Spartans are facing Eastern Kentucky for the first time in program history.
