Span Selected to ASUN All-Academic Team

LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate junior guard Jure Span was honored for his performance both on the court and in the classroom Saturday afternoon as he earned a spot for the second straight season on the ASUN All-Academic Team, the conference office announced.

Span was a unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Academic Team and was one of four two-time selections honored. He joins Mario Blessing as the only players in program history to earn multiple ASUN All-Academic Team recognition.

An exercise and sport science major from Litija, Slovenia, Span has a 3.718 grade-point average. He played in every game this season at the guard position and leads the team in assists while ranking fifth in scoring. Span averages 8.0 points per game and is third in the ASUN in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and fifth in assists per game (4.2).

Span recorded 10 games this season with double-figure points including a career-high 22 against UMKC. He began the season with 19 points at 15th-ranked Minnesota. Span dished out five or more assists 12 times highlighted by a season-high nine versus Abilene Christian at the Creek Classic.

Kennesaw State's Nick Masterson was voted the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
