Spartanburg, S.C. – Several USC Upstate baseball student-athletes are participating in wooden bat leagues across the country. The Spartans have 11 student-athletes competing in nine different leagues. Below is a list of players and their summer teams.
Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate senior pitcher Blake Whitney became the 29th Spartan in school history to join the professional baseball ranks when he was selected in the 24th round as the 728th overall pick by the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.
LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate baseball student-athletes Kyle Gensler and Kevin Hickey were honored by the ASUN Conference on Tuesday evening as they were named to the All-Freshmen and All-Academic Teams, respectively.
DeLand, Fla. – Saturday’s USC Upstate baseball game at No. 17 Stetson has been cancelled due to rain and thunderstorms. The game will not be made up. USC Upstate concludes the 2018 season with a 23-28-1 overall record and a 5-14 record in the ASUN Conference.
DeLand, Fla. – The No. 17 Stetson Hatters jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated USC Upstate 14-5 in the opener of an ASUN Conference series on Thursday evening at Melching Field.
Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a rainout on Tuesday, the USC Upstate baseball team will play its final three games of the 2018 regular season this weekend as the Spartans travel to DeLand, Fla. for a three-game series against Stetson at Melching Field. The series consists of 6:30 p.m. contests on Thursday and Friday with the series finale at 1 p.m. Saturday
