Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a rainout on Tuesday, the USC Upstate baseball team will play its final three games of the 2018 regular season this weekend as the Spartans travel to DeLand, Fla. for a three-game series against Stetson at Melching Field. The series consists of 6:30 p.m. contests on Thursday and Friday with the series finale at 1 p.m. Saturday
USC Upstate is 23-27-1 overall and 5-13 in the ASUN Conference after being swept by Jacksonville at Harley Park last weekend. The Dolphins earned a 5-3 win in 11 innings on Friday evening followed by a 14-5 win on Saturday and a 15-3 victory in Sunday's series finale. The Spartans were scheduled to face South Carolina on Tuesday but impending weather forced the cancellation of that game.
Stetson is 40-11 overall and 14-3 in the ASUN following a sweep of Florida Gulf Coast last weekend. The Hatters clinched the regular season championship as a result of their sweep and NJIT's series win over Kennesaw State. Stetson was scheduled to face Miami on Tuesday but the game was called due to weather in the fifth inning with the score tied at 1.
The Hatters lead the all-time series 20-12 after winning two of three games at Harley Park last season.
