Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate baseball team returns to ASUN Conference play this weekend as the Spartans close out the 2018 home schedule with a visit from Jacksonville. The series begins at 6 p.m. on Friday followed by a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday and the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
USC Upstate is 23-24-1 overall following a 12-10 win over Wofford at Harley Park on Wednesday. The Spartans trailed 7-1 after the fourth inning but outscored the Terriers 11-1 over the next four innings for a 12-8 lead. Wofford scored two runs in the ninth and had the bases loaded with two outs before a groundout ended the game.
The Spartans are 5-10 in ASUN contests after dropping two of three games at Lipscomb April 27-29. Lipscomb claimed the first two games of the series before Blake Whitney threw a complete game, three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win in the series finale.
Jacksonville heads to Harley Park with a 31-17 overall record after a 10-4 loss at No. 16 Florida State on Wednesday. The Dolphins are 8-6 in league play after losing a pair of games at Stetson last weekend as the series finale was cancelled due to weather.
The Dolphins lead the all-time series 18-9 after claiming all three games at Sessions Stadium last season. USC Upstate won two of three games at Harley Park to conclude the 2016 regular season.
