Spartans Battle N.C. A&T, Winthrop in Midweek Contests

Spartanburg, S.C. – Following an ASUN road series win last weekend, the USC Upstate baseball team will look to continue its momentum as the Spartans host North Carolina A&T on Tuesday before making the short trip to Winthrop on Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch. 

Tuesday's game will be Giveaway Night. All fans who enter their name into a drawing will be eligible to win prizes which include t-shirts, gift cards, mini bats, pennants and koozies.

USC Upstate is 18-20-1 overall and 3-6 in the ASUN Conference following a series win at NJIT last weekend. The Spartans dropped Friday's opener but swept a Saturday doubleheader to claim their first ASUN series of 2018. Toran Shahidi had three hits in each of the Spartans' wins on Saturday. 

North Carolina A&T is 19-16 overall and 9-5 in the MEAC after a series win over N.C. Central last weekend. The Aggies have won four of their last five games. 

Winthrop is 17-20 overall and 9-6 in the Big South Conference after losing a league series at home to Radford last weekend. 

USC Upstate leads the all-time series with North Carolina A&T 5-3 following a 6-1 win for the Aggies in Greensboro, N.C. on March 27. The Spartans hold a 3-2 edge in the all-time series with Winthrop thanks to a 9-5 win at Harley Park on Feb. 20. The home team has won each of the previous matchups.

USC Upstate returns to Harley Park this weekend for a series against FGCU. The Eagles and Spartans begin the series on Friday at 6 p.m.
