Cross Country Preview:  Upstate Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate cross country team will host its second meet of the season on Saturday morning with the Upstate Invitational starting at 9 a.m. from Milliken Research Center.

The women's 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. with the men's 8K to follow at 9:45 a.m.

USC Upstate returns to the course for the first time since Sept. 13 at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. The women's and men's teams both finished in third place with Dorian Jones and Krysta Pierstorff turning in the top individual times. Jones posted a season-best finish of fourth place while Pierstorff finished in 17th place.

The performances by Jones and Pierstorff led to both being named the Big South Men's and Women's Runners of the Week.

The Spartans are one of 23 teams competing in the Upstate Invitational along with Appalachian State, Campbell, Catawba, The Citadel, Claflin, Columbia International, Converse, Gardner-Webb, Lander, Erskine, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Mercer, Milligan, Newberry, Southern Virginia, Southern Wesleyan, Spartanburg Methodist, USC Beaufort, Wingate, Winthrop and Wofford.

USC Upstate travels to Charlotte, N.C. on Friday, Oct. 12 for the Queens Invitational at 4:30 p.m.
