Cross Country Teams Set to Host Upstate Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's and women's cross country teams are set to host the Upstate Invitational this weekend at Milliken Research Park.

This will be the fourth meet of the 2011 season for the Spartan cross country teams with the women's race set for 10 a.m. and men's at 10:45 a.m. The eight-team race will consist of men's and women's programs from Carson-Newman, Clafin, Darton, Newberry, Piedmont, Presbyterian and Wofford.

"This will be a good tune-up meet for us this Saturday as we prepare for the Atlantic Sun Championship meet Oct. 29," said Upstate's associate head coach Carson Blackwelder.

In the Spartans' last outing, senior Joan Tangwar won her second race of the season, posting a Spartan record with a time of 16:53.7 in the women's 5K at the Charlotte Invitational Sept. 30.
