Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate track & field teams will look to continue their record-setting spring this weekend as the Spartans travel to Harmon Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.

"We have had a great season so far with 11 school records broken and 121 personal bests," head coach Carson Blackwelder said. "There are always ups and downs to every season, but this season there have been more ups than downs.

At the Tri Star Track Classic on April 27-28, USC Upstate student-athletes set five school records. Kennedy Holton set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles. Sarah Hill posted new school records in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Terry Newell set a new school record in the 100-meter dash. Noah Walker set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles. In addition to the school records, 14 student-athletes recorded new personal best times or marks.

The meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday with the women's Heptathlon. Field events commence at 3:30 p.m. with the men's pole vault, men's long jump and women's hammer throw with track action opening at 7 p.m. with the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. Saturday's schedule begins with the men's decathlon at 9 a.m. The men's high jump, women's triple jump and women's discus open Saturday's field events at 3 p.m., with the men's 4x100-meter relay opening running events at 5 pm.

"We are looking really good in the hurdles and sprints right now," Blackwelder stated. "All of our student-athletes are doing great right now and we feel that many have a shot at the podium and all of them will be able to run a personal best."

Both teams recorded a fifth place finish at the 2017 meet.
